According to Reuters, a priest in Philadelphia is facing pedophilia charges. He could possibly receive 28 years in prison if he is convicted. Since 1950, over 10,000 allegations have been against priests in terms of child sex abuse. This information has been presented by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. Father Avery is one of the many priests charged with child sex abuse. He is facing five years in prison for child molestation between 1998-1999 at a school.
One of Avery’s molestations involved a 10 year old altar boy. The young boy was forced to strip tease and perform cruel, sexual acts. The abuse caused by Avery led to the boy becoming a drug user and being suicidal. Father Lynn was in charge of Avery and has been accused of letting many priests get away with sexual abuse towards children. He has been in charge of 800+ priests during his time in the diocese.
